Sebuah rekor buruk pun ditorehkan Qatar. Mereka menjadi tuan rumah pertama dalam sejarah Piala Dunia yang tersingkir setelah dua pertandingan.

Menurut catatan yang dilansir ESPN, Afrika Selatan menjadi negara tuan rumah lainnya yang tersingkir di fase grup saat mereka menggelar Piala Dunia 2010. Namun, kala itu Afrika Selatan masih bertahan hingga laga ketiga dan tersingkir dengan mencatat satu kemenangan dan satu hasil imbang.

Upaya Qatar untuk menutup kiprahnya di Piala Dunia 2022 dengan kemenangan akan mendapat ujian berat. Mereka akan menghadapi Belanda di laga terakhir, Selasa (29/11/2022) malam WIB.
